Leaf-cutter bees now in Action

While watching eggplant flowers for pollinators in Turkana I have noticed that some of the leaves of several nearby bell-pepper plants had nice round of cuts from them I sat down to watch the plants suspected that the perpetrator would be back soon.

A few minutes later, zip a glowing buzzing up the plants and settled on one of the leaves. It was a leaf-cutter bee! Bien works quickly to cut through the magazine in an almost perfect circle … As the bee goes out to the nest with the paper was held under it. It will use this to line the walls of the tube next to the constructs of its larva.

Because these bees are also very good and efficient pollinators, they are welcome to use any of the crops’ leaves the nest. More from the world of bugs soon. Thanks to everyone for the kind comments!
