Jacob Wetterling’s Case Opened Again : Jacob Wetterling was kidnapped in 1989. Jacob aged 11, when he was kidnapped on 22, 1989. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office went to the spot where he was kidnapped. They brought earth moving equipments with them to find out something they could possibly use to determine the location of the kidnapped child. Jacob Wetterling’s Case investigation is exclusive only to the courts said Deputy Chief Bruce Bech told Stearns County Sheriff’s Department. This order was issued by Judge Stearns County so he cannot reveal any updates about the case.
C. Wilson, the representative of the FBI said “the FBI also support search operations in that area.” Also, some people of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children are on the ground in St. Joseph, working to support the sheriff and the FBI.
Jacob’s father Jerry Wetterling said “I don’t know what is happening there & don’t want to get into any specific suspects. I just know there is a lot of activity. I was extremely surprised when there were five-six cars this way. There were leads that were pursuing aggressively for several months at a time. There were over 30,000 leads in this case. I just know when they have no leads in the past, law enforcement will do everything they think they need to continue, especially lead. We’ve just been so thankful for all the interest and support, people helping and trying to find out what really happened with Jacob.”
Jacob Wetterling Case last clear lead was in January 2009. Vernon Seitz confessed that he was killing two children in 1950 and died in December 2008 had newspaper clippings and photographs of young Jacob along with child pornography and books about cannibalism in his home but Milwaukee police together with the Stearns Sheriff had worked to find out if there is a connection but proved that there is none.
Last year, a children’s concert organized by Jacob’s family at the College of Saint Benedict in Saint Joseph in the honor of 20th anniversary of his disappearance. Last year, a book “Hope of Jacob” wrote and published by his mother, so her grandchildren can understand what happened to their uncle. Patty Wetterling’s even said in Interview “she remains as others to how such a crime can happen in a small town.” She also said “We do not know what happened.”
Jacob Wetterling’s situation is still unknown. He has the most famous missing child case in Minnesota. When he was kidnapped, nearby half a mile from his residence, he was with his brother and friend. The man who kidnapped him appeared from the woods with a gun. Jacob Wetterling Foundation is the product of Jacob’s name being synonymous with missing and vulnerable children. It was formed by Jacob’s parents in 1990. Later on, it was renamed with Jacob Wetterling Resource Center. It merged with the National Child Protection Training Center and lead community sex offender notification forums and raising awareness about child sexual exploitation and abduction.
