Devi Ahilya University, Indore (DAVV Indore) was established in 1964 in Madhya Pradesh. The jurisdiction of the university was limited to Indore district at the time of its establishment. In the year 1988, the university was renamed after Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar as Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya. After its reorganization, its jurisdiction was developed over to Indore division, which spans over 7 districts.
