Washington: U.S. Defense Department's Headquarter Pentagon's senior officer said from the International Coalition Forces that the attack on Libya is succeed he also added that in this operation Libya leader Muammar Gaddafi were not on the target.
Joint Staff Director Vice Admiral William Gortney told reporters that now I can give the guarantee that Gaddafi is not our target. We are not going to act on Gaddafi. He also said that attacks are take place where there are the Gaddafi, than we can not say anything.
He also added that I think very effective attacks, Gaddafi regime and their ability to reduce the defense capabilities are destroyed."We judge these strikes to have been very effective in significantly degrading the regime's air defence capability."
Gortney said. "We believe his forces are under significant stress and suffering from both isolation and a good deal of confusion."
But Gortney did not rule out the possibility of further attacks aimed at preventing Gadhafi from attacking civilians in Libya and enforcing a no-fly zone.
US Defence Secretary Robert Gates said the US expects to turn control of the mission over to a coalition - probably headed either by the French and British or by Nato - "in a matter of days."
