Pakistan bakery blast kills 16

Islamabad: Nowshera city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is known for its colonial era cantonment and is also home to the Pakistan Army School of Artillery. At least 16 people were killed and more than 40 injured when an explosion ripped through a bakery in a cantonment area in Pakistan's Nowshera city late Sunday, a media report said.

According to news channel Geo TV Naushera city of the province during the suicide attack at the bakery was in a large number of people. The bakery was filled with shoppers at the time of the blast, sources said, adding that among those killed also include the wife and two children of a high-ranked security official.

According to police, the explosion after gas cylinders stored in the bakery also flew terrible fire. Pakistan Army rescue teams have reached the spot. Fire tenders, ambulances and other emergency services reached the blast site and began rescue efforts. Rescue teams of the Pakistan Army also arrived at the spot. Police said they were trying to ascertain the cause of the tragic incident.
