Mamata Announces Projects For North Bengal

Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal Tuesday launched several projects in North Bengal and struck the main opposition force in the Left Front is trying to light a problem for the hills.

Projects include traffic between North-COOCH Behar in West Bengal and Kolkata. He laid the foundation stone for a new Prime Minister Secretariat, Siliguri and Darjeeling district Matigara.

He reported an improved budgetary allocation of Rs.200 crore in North Bengal Development board.

"All new development in North Bengal, followed by a secretariat," Banerjee said at the function Kanchenjungha Stadium here.

"I come in every three month to sit on the North Bengal Development Board, following its development," Banerjee added.

Starting COOCH Behar-Kolkata air service agreements, the minister responsible, said the survey flights now fly the route. Since September, is scheduled for operation in six days a week, except Sunday, which will facilitate better communication between the north Bengal and Kolkata.

Banerjee and inaugurated the foundation stone of various railway projects, work that was announced during his term as railway minister.

He laid the cornerstone of the Academy of Siliguri table tennis, flag down a bus-rail service to Bagdogra Siliguri Junction launched the first broad gauge train service on the Siliguri-Aluabari part of gauge conversion. He has also rebuilt the nation dedicated to New Jalpaiguri Station.

Banerjee slammed the main opposition party National Front for the Left is trying to ignite trouble in North Bengal.

"Many people understand that the solution to the problem is the solution to many problems of ground in North Bengal. This will create new development corridors. That's why they (Left Front) has created problems in the mountains to stop the process of development," he Banerjee .

"But let me tell you (Left Front) that you can not do anything, because people here want to move on. You got 34 years. You could not do anything about it. Now, let us work," he added.

The letter of intent in trouble-torn northern mountains of Darjeeling in West Bengal was signed Monday between the Gorkha Janamukti Mørch (GJM) and the state and central governments, trigger euphoria in the mountains, but also evokes protests in the plains.

"Nepal and Gorkha are our brothers. I can not tell the CPI-M (Communist Party of India-Marxist), not to the organizations that create the problem of hills and plains. Let me fix the problem," Banerjee said.
